Copy Trade Bot — A Reliable MetaTrader Trade Copier
Mirror every open, modify and close from a master account to as many follower accounts as you need, with per-account lot rules, symbol mapping and protection against double entries.
A copy trade bot, or trade copier, watches a master MetaTrader account and replicates its trades on one or more follower accounts. ExpertNevees builds copiers for MT4 and MT5 with lot multipliers, symbol mapping, per-account risk limits and protection against duplicate or missed copies. Typical copy latency is under one second on a stable connection, and delivery takes 5–7 days.

How Trades Can Be Transferred
| Method | Where it fits | Typical latency | Considerations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shared files | All accounts on the same computer or VPS | Very low | Simple and robust. The terminals must share the common data folder. |
| Local socket / messaging | Accounts on one machine or one network | Very low | Uses a library that requires DLL imports, which MetaQuotes’ Virtual Hosting does not allow. |
| Cloud relay server | Accounts on different machines or VPS | Low, network dependent | Most flexible. Needs a server and a secured connection. |
Which method suits you depends on where your terminals run. We recommend one during the feasibility review.
The Idea Behind a File-Based Master Publisher (MQL5)
// Master EA (simplified): publishes the current position snapshot to a file in the shared Common folder.
// Follower EAs on the same machine read it and reconcile. Production code also writes atomically.
void PublishPositions()
{
int h = FileOpen("copier_master.csv", FILE_WRITE | FILE_CSV | FILE_COMMON | FILE_ANSI, ';');
if(h == INVALID_HANDLE) { PrintFormat("Publish failed, error %d", GetLastError()); return; }
FileWrite(h, "ticket", "symbol", "type", "volume", "sl", "tp");
for(int i = 0; i < PositionsTotal(); i++)
{
ulong ticket = PositionGetTicket(i); // selects the position
FileWrite(h, ticket,
PositionGetString(POSITION_SYMBOL),
(int)PositionGetInteger(POSITION_TYPE),
PositionGetDouble(POSITION_VOLUME),
PositionGetDouble(POSITION_SL),
PositionGetDouble(POSITION_TP));
}
FileClose(h);
}
A follower EA maps each master ticket to its own order and compares snapshots to decide what to open, modify or close. That mapping is what prevents duplicates after a restart.
Before You Copy Trades
- ●Read your broker’s terms: some restrict copy trading or require it to go through their own service.
- ●Managing other people’s money may be a regulated activity in your jurisdiction. Check licensing requirements.
- ●Different brokers have different spreads, execution speed and stop levels, so copied results are never identical to the master’s.
- ●Use a risk guard on every follower. See Capital & Risk Management.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the copier copy between MT4 and MT5?
Yes. Master and followers can be any mix of MT4 and MT5, with symbol and position-model differences handled by the copier. Netting-account behaviour on MT5 is taken into account.
How fast is the copying?
On a stable connection and a good VPS, copies typically happen in under a second. Actual fills depend on each broker’s execution speed.
Can each follower use a different lot size?
Yes. Each follower can have a fixed lot, a multiplier, balance-proportional sizing or a risk-percent rule.
What if a follower is offline when the master trades?
On reconnect the copier reconciles positions. You choose whether to copy missed trades, skip them, or only copy those still within a price-tolerance.
Does it work on a hosted MetaTrader VPS?
File-based and cloud-relay designs can be built to respect hosting limits, but DLL-based approaches cannot run on MetaQuotes’ hosting. We pick the architecture to fit your setup.
Can I sell copy trading to clients with this?
The software can serve that purpose, but offering copy trading to third parties may be regulated. Consult a qualified professional about licensing in your region.
